Digital Camcorder Hdv
Does the Sony HVR-HD1000U Digital High Definition HDV Camcorder run on tape?
I am looking into buying a Sony HVR-HD1000U Digital High Definition HDV Camcorder but I want a digital camera that I can just pop the footage into my MacBook Pro using a USB or a drive. Does this camera record onto video tape or is it all digital and able to plug right into a computer and dump the videos?
the HD1000 is all digital. That is, it records digital video on miniDV tape. cameras of this quality can’t record video on SD cards because the maximum data rate for SD cards is way too slow. miniDV tape is 25mbps, and most SD card recording is 6 mbps. if you need to record to solidstate memory instead of tape, then you should be looking at Sony XDcam or Panasonic P2 systems. Your MacBook needs to have a firewire connection to work with this camera.
