Orson Welles directed a first person movie – what was it?
At some point in his career, Orson Welles (director of Citizen Kane) directed a movie in which the main character was the camera. The supporting characters talked directly to the camera. The head turned by panning and looked up and down by tilting. What was the name of that movie? This sounds like a trivia question but it’s not – I need to know!
At first I thought it was F for Fake. However, after reading all your question, I don’t think it is. I cannot remember any Welles movies shot with the camera as a character, but have seen one or two over the years, including Lady in the Lake, with Robert Montgomery (and the camera) playing Philip Marlowe.
